Year End Video and upcoming webinar on where to travel next year! ✈️ 🧳

Published 5 months ago • 3 min read

Hello Reader,

Happy Holidays!

For the last 17 years, I’ve been creating holiday wrap-up videos instead of sending holiday cards. This is one tradition I’ve been able to keep up since I started traveling in 2006. And it's a good thing because my mom tells me stamps are expensive!

My goal last year was to travel less and be home more. I know that sounds weird - but as a travel writer, there really is a thing as too much travel. As you'll see from the holiday video, I did actually achieve that goal...sort of. I traveled fewer miles and fewer days away from home in 2023. Yay for me!

Overall - I had a fabulous travel year. I had some epic international trips to Iceland, Japan, and Chile. And I spent a lot more time traveling domestically and throwing myself into my Capitol Biking Quest, which also took me away from home a lot. And - I put a ton of miles on my bike in 2023! Watch the video to find out how many!

The time I did spend at home I was busy fostering more kittens than last year! Yes - the kitten antics are included in the video of course!

Enjoy my 2023 Year in Numbers Video - AND...if you feel like it - share some of your 2023 numbers with me!

What does 2024 Bring?

You never get anywhere if you stand still, so I will continue with more business changes for 2024. I will host more Ottsworld Tours (there are some epic ones in the works!), and offer some more travel itinerary design and consulting packages for people who hate to do travel research and planning!

I have 3+ more capitol rides (all over 500 miles) planned and I will be taking on an epic 120 mile thru hike. In addition, I'm heading to 2 new far off countries in 2024, and a subantarctic island..Woohoo! I'm already booked with travel well into November next year - I can hardly believe it.

Between all this travel, I'm working on a new website, fostering more kittens, and spending time with my parents. They are 87 and both doing great, but I know our time is precious.

What are your 2024 travel plans? And if you need some ideas...read on...

Happy New Year!

Ireland hiking tour

Hello Reader, Hello from Ireland! I just finished up my Ireland County Mayo tour with a fabulous group of 7 travelers! We hiked, biked, baked, drank whiskey, cuddled lambs (watch the video!), visited ruins, and took a cold dip in the Wild Atlantic Ocean! This was the first time I was in Ireland in the Spring and it is beautiful - and it helped that we had epic weather! After a very short break I'm starting my next Ottsworld Ireland tour tomorrow. A group of us will be taking on the 130 mile...

Hello Reader, Experience Torres del Paine Like Never Before! If Patagonia has been on your wish list for adventure travel, I have the perfect tour for you! In 2023, I took this trip as a trial run to work out the kinks and to promote it as a new way to see Patagonia. It ended up being one of my favorite trips I’ve ever taken. It spoke to me in so many ways – through culture, adventure, challenge, wildlife, friendships, food, and remote landscapes – all wrapped up in a great journey to get to...
